Meet Rhona Smith

Dr. Rhona Smith is Professor of International Human Rights at Newcastle University Law School in the UK. From 2015 to 2021, Rhona was the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Cambodia. Her work has included extensive capacity building in academic and justice sectors, with a focus on human rights. She has also worked at universities in Scotland, Australia, Canada, China, Cambodia, Fiji, and Vanuatu. Her publications range across human rights including UN monitoring systems, human rights education, and the rights of vulnerable groups.
